| A pilgrimage is a term primarily used in religion and spirituality of a long journey or search of great moral significance.
Pilgrimages may be defined as journeys made to some place
with the purpose of venerating it, or in order to ask there
for supernatural aid, or to discharge some religious
obligation.
India has been the place of origin for many major religions of the world and
has important pilgrimage spots of others. For centuries, mythology and mystique
has swept the land and there are a number of temples, mosques, monasteries,
churches and gurudwaras that have gained a prominence amongst the most visited
places in India.
