Marathi is one of the
Indo-Aryan languages spoken by
the
Maharashtrian people
of Western
India. It serves as the
official language of the state of
Maharashtra, with roughly
ninety million native speakers in this state. Marathi is at
least one thousand years old, and derives its
grammar and
syntax from the older
Sanskrit. The Marathi language
is also known as Maharashtri, Maharathi,
Malhatee or Marthi
