Christmas

Christmas Like elsewhere in the world is celebrated in India too on December 25, which celebrates the birth of Jesus. According to the Christian gospels, Jesus was born to Mary in Bethlehem, where she and her husband Joseph had traveled to register in the Roman census. Christmas is a time for Families, Fun, Festivities and holiday meals. It is time for Santa, stars, and singing carolers. A time for ornaments, gifts, and twinkling lights of sleigh rides, hot cocoa, and gingerbread cookies

Christmas in India is very cheerful. It is usually celebrated in the southern India. Christians in India decorate their houses. They also light small oil-burning lamps as Christmas decorations and fill their churches with flowers and with candles. Decorated and glittering Christmas trees are all over the place.

For the devout, the celebrations begin on Christmas Eve. Carols are sung and various churches organize the midnight Mass. The service on Christmas Day is attended by Christians dressed in new clothes. After the morning congregation is over, people assemble in their homes for the family get-togethers.
