| Ayurveda means the science or knowledge of life. Ayurveda is made up of two
Sanskrit words: Ayu, which means life, and Veda, which means the knowledge of.
Ayurveda is the science of life, which explains the
knowledge of various guidelines to be followed in order to make a healthy, happy
and comfortable life physically, mentally and socially. Ayurveda is meant
to prevent disease & so primarily addresses healthy people who want to keep
healthy.
Ayurveda believes that
everything in this universe is made up of five great elements or building
blocks. These are earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Ayurveda is the Vedic system of health care that
developed in India over 5000 years ago. Ayurveda deals with the measures
of healthy living, along with therapeutic measures that relate to physical,
mental, social and spiritual harmony. Different Ayurvedic treatments are
‘Panchakarmas’ Therapeutic vomiting, Purgation, Cleansing enemas, Nasal
application of herbs and Rejuvenation (Ramayana). |
